Carousel - ©2005

Verse 1
Momma knew that he was different from the rest
Always tryin’ to make her smile
Can't remember when it was his daddy left
But he knows it’s been awhile

He grew up strong and true in ways he never knew
Five more brothers came before
Four grew up and left New Waterford for good
The oldest died at twenty four

Chorus x 2
Hold on tight
Time will tell
Round we go
Carousel

Verse 2
Momma did the best she could without a man
Always seemed to make ends meet
She knew the day would come when he would finally go
Then she’d feel so incomplete

One Sunday morning as the light came shinin’ in
Her son said “mom I’m movin’ on”
She couldn’t bear to watch him walk across the room
She turned around and he was gone

Bridge
People come and then they go
Life can be so bittersweet
Through it all we never know
When our better days will be

Chorus x 2
So hold on tight
Only time will tell
Round we go on this
Carousel

Verse 3
He never thought he’d ever get that bitter news
As he stumbled for the phone
His brother told him that she died a peaceful death
He told him she had died alone

As he finally knelt beside his momma’s grave
A single tear stopped at his smile
He can't remember just how long ago he left
But he knows it’s been awhile

Chorus x 2
Hold on tight
Time will tell
Round we go
Carousel

Outtro (like verse)
Momma knew that he was different from the rest
Always tryin’ to make her smile...
