Rivers - ©2006

Sitting in a seaside bar right next to Mexico
Pretty girl pulls up and smiles and says to me
"I can tell your future for a fifty dollar bill
or I can make you smile right now for free"

All the people that we meet
Rivers flowing endlessly

Sixteen degrees and no one else is on the road
Drifter up ahead, I slow and let him in (he said)
"I could tell you stories that would make you laugh for hours
But hell if I remember where I've been"

All these mem'ries that we keep
Rivers flowing endlessly

[instrumental break]

Little girl says "daddy can you play me your guitar?"
I just smile and nod my head (she said)
"You should write a simple song that makes me want to sing
And play it for me when I go to sleep"

All these reasons we believe
Rivers flowing...

Endlessly

[instrumental ending]

A Place of Forgetting

This is an older instrumental idea/theme that I decided to finally put to "tape" tonight. I'd like to put some lyrics and melody to this idea, but time will tell.
Thanks for listening.

New One

Well, after a few months away, I've started in on a new one. It's pretty loose and relaxed, but here's some lyrics to get started.

Intro
Palm mute
Full chords

Verse
Palm mute

I don't know
just how it's gonna end
I can only see
this road in front of me

Chorus
So c'mon
take me by the hand
So c'mon
Let's get it while we can
Hold on
to those moments as they pass
Won't be long
It all goes by...... so fast (strum Cadd9)

Stop the Rain - ©2006

For Mom (03Nov33-15May06)

VERSE
Baby cryin' on the floor
Ain't nothin' easy anymore
Bank man said it's all come due
Lord he's comin to the door

Fifteen years not one's been kind
So much weighin' on my mind

PRE-CHORUS
What we need
What we need
Is some sort of a miracle

What we need
What we need
Is nothin' short of miracle

CHORUS
Is there something I can do
Some way to explain
Make me believe again

Is there somewhere I can go
To ease the strain
Some way to stop this rain
Stop the rain

VERSE
Old man came in with the news
He said a month or maybe two
I took her hand and held it tight
Said there's nothing they can do

Sixty years not one's been kind
So much weighin' on my mind

PRE-CHORUS
What we need
What we need
Is some sort of a miracle

What we need
What we need
Is nothin' short of miracle

CHORUS
Is there something I can do
Some way to explain
Make me believe again

Is there somewhere I can go
To ease the strain
Some way to stop this rain

OUTTRO FADE OUT
Stop the rain
Some way to give again
Stop the rain
Some way to love again
All this rain
And learn to live again

Nothing Left to Burn - ©2006

Verse 1
She headed home to Cincinnati
Lightning flashed along the way
The person she'd become had gotten much to old
The ocean seems so far away

There's a boy back on Long Island
With four empty dresser drawers
Rusty lighter in the pocket of her jeans
But she's got nothing left to burn
She's got nothing left to burn

Verse 2
She took a look back in the mirror
Her mind went back to better days
One by one she watched as every memory
Slowly vanished in the haze

Lonely rhythm on the windshield
Wipers beat in perfect time
Her friends all said she'd never have the strength to leave
Now she's got nothin' left to prove
She's got nothing left to prove

Verse 3
She drove all night into the morning
To make that demon disappear
The sun came up just as she pulled into the drive
Now she's got nothing left to fear
She's got nothing left to fear

Untitled/Unfinished - ©2006

Verse
One candle bright
Hold it way up high
Don't think twice
Here comes the night

Here's to life
And everything that's right
You gotta try
It's worth the fight

Verse
I don't mind
If I never find
All that shines
'Cause it ain't really mine

Shallow Song - ©2006

Verse 1
All this time we spend - alone
These empty days we call - our own
Spending what is left
No anger, no regret

We just move along
Singing our shallow song

Trying hard to forget

Verse 2
I remember you - and me
We were young and wrong - as we could be
Said that we'd go slow
That seems so long ago

Now we move along
Singing our shallow song

Trying hard to let go

Verse 3
Shadows of the past - remain
Falling hard on me - like rain
No desire to try
Never knowing why

I'll just move along
Singing this shallow song

Trying hard to get by
